ABSTRACT

S enior professionals have more than 20 years of experience in the helping professions. They are well established and regarded as senior practitioners by others. They tend to have an integrated style that is authentic and individualized. In the spirit of generativity, providing mentoring to junior professionals becomes important at this phase. At the same time, loss is a resounding theme for senior professionals as they cope with the loss of their own important mentors through retirement or death. They are also confronted by the specter of future loss as they contemplate leaving the field through retirement.
