ABSTRACT
Many people have contributed to the development of plant breeding over the course of centuries. These were not only farmers, but also botanists, taxonomists, ecologists, chemists, physicists, mathematicians, and even politicians. To make a memorial to some of them, a small selection of people was alphabetically listed and briefly characterized by their achievements.
