ABSTRACT

In the first session, the group talked about the problems that arise as a result of dementia as well as the things they still do well. This session builds on this by talking about how memory works and what participants can do that will help them to remember important things. During the session, facilitators will take opportunities to gently make the link between the impact of memory loss (and other problems associated with dementia) and how this makes people feel. The session involves both recognising and empathising with the difficulties people have as a result of their illness and beginning to suggest strategies that could help people live their everyday lives.
