ABSTRACT

This chapter details how clinician can handle the Session 4 review. According to the patient’s progress to that point, the session can be used to reinforce positive change to date, to encourage rapid change, or to terminate therapy constructively. Clinical examples show how this approach is used, including letters to the patient to reinforce the message from the therapy session. Supervision are also considered, to ensure that we consider the interpersonal issues involved in the decision about whether or not to proceed with therapy at this stage.
