ABSTRACT

This client workbook chapter corresponds to Session 9 of Emotion Regulation Treatment of Alcohol Use Disorders. In Chapter 11, the therapist introduces the topic of seemingly irrelevant decisions and how they may increase the client’s risk for drinking. The client is asked to consider how their day-to-day decisions may increase or decrease risk for drinking. Next, the client participates in the third session of imaginal exposure to an unpleasant emotional situation that, in the past, was associated with drinking. At the end of the session, between-session skill practice is assigned.
