ABSTRACT
This chapter describes three boundaries that are essential for leaders to put in place: License to Operate, Employee Welfare, and Inclusion. Boundaries define right and wrong, without them organizational anxiety will ensue that can create confusion, conflicts, paralysis, and cannibalization of energy. There is no place to hide for leaders and organizations whose actions and decisions do not meet the standards of shareholders, governments, organizations, and communities. Leaders set clear license-to-operate policies and manage these proactively rather than in damage control when a crisis occurs. Employee welfare is paramount for leaders. Leaders assure that enabling enterprise processes are in place and they are mindful of the messages sent to the organization through their own behavior. Inclusion is a state of being valued, respected and supported. It's about focusing on the needs of every individual and ensuring the right conditions are in place for each person to achieve his or her potential.
