Your headquarters doesn’t have to be glamorous and expensive, nor does it have to be a storefront on a major thoroughfare. It can be as humble as an unused room in your house. Madeline Kunin, former governor of Vermont, used her kitchen and other rooms in her house to begin her campaign for the state legislature. Several of my friends, including a county commissioner, turned their homes into campaign offices. I did too. My eldest daughter had gone off to law school, so I reclaimed her bedroom.
