ABSTRACT
Since the mid 1980s, researchers across North America have uncovered high rates of sexual assault among college students. The main objective of this chapter is to provide a comprehensive review of the current state of criminological knowledge on this problem. Special attention is devoted to defining sexual assault, reporting data on the extent of sexual assault on college campuses, and to summarizing two theoretical models. This chapter concludes with a section on bystander intervention training.
