ABSTRACT

Chapter Overview This chapter starts by reviewing a number of shape measures (or features) that are usually adopted for shape characterization and classification and proceeds by covering several complexity descriptors, including the fractal dimension and curvature-based measures. The chapter concludes by presenting Fourier descriptors, their alternative definitions and properties.
