There are classics and then there are classics. In addition to classic signs, there are classic radiologists. Benjamin (Ben) Felson (1913–1988) was one of the most outstanding radiologists and teachers of our times. The silhouette sign that he and his brother Henry’ reported in 1950, will forever be associated with the Felson name though they stated that several others had discussed the phenomenon before their report^2–4.
