ABSTRACT

Some basic knowledge of probability is needed in statistical quality control. But the amount needed is not great. In this chapter, we give just some basic concepts of probability which are needed in the interpretation of statistical techniques and how they are used. Later in this chapter, we give the derivation and formulas for the distribution models which are used in control charts for counted, i.e., discrete, data and for continuous, i.e., measured, data. The reader will find the subject of probability of interest in every day life too. We will give a few examples of this.
