ABSTRACT

The plurilateral trade agreement simulation is, a role-playing exercise designed to reproduce as close as possible the realities of what happens behind the scenes and during negotiations of a plurilateral trade agreement at the world trade organization. The objective is to provide students with a practical experience through which they can learn and appreciate the often-unknown dynamics of different trade negotiations. In this exercise, trade negotiations and all other components that make up the substance of these agreements. Usually plurilateral agreements are negotiated among like-minded countries, so the countries must be chosen having in mind their common purpose but not necessarily a common level of ambition. Pick real countries with readily accessible information and statistics so that students can work with real data and information. Plurilaterals also usually cover one topic like trade in civil aircraft, government procurement, or services, so pick a topic that can be researched in all countries and that students have time to study.
