ABSTRACT

The development of new simulation method, which has the possibility of simulation in actual powder industrial processes, has been attempted by applying cellular automata. In this drastically simplified method, the motion of granular materials is restricted only on 2-D triangular lattice and also described by interaction-transition rule, which had been derived on the basis of the simulated results of flow behavior of granular materials under gravity using DEM. According to the rule, the simulation of flow behavior of vibrating granular materials is performed to confirm the applicability of this method. The simulated results show the possibility of reproduce of convection flow pattern observed in the experiment.
