ABSTRACT

Patients requiring wound care can be found in the community, secondary care and long-term care institutions, and range from infants to elderly people. The annual cost incurred by the NHS in managing wounds and associated comorbidities was estimated to be £5.3 billion. This equated to 4% of the total expenditure by the NHS in the UK (Guest et al. 2017).
