ABSTRACT

SBT fosters socially just services by reminding clients and clinicians that the problems clients bring to therapy are often created or exacerbated by unjust social conditions. SBT clinicians are aware of the operation and effects of power disparities and other injustices in clients’ lives, and they counteract social injustices by collaborating with clients, recruiting their strengths, and ensuring they have a voice in their treatment. Strengths-based conversations may inspire clients to re-assess and re-align relationships in family, work, and other areas of life.
