Solving equations by iterative methods There are many, many different types of equations used in every branch of engineering and science. There are straightforward methods for solving simple, quadratic and simultaneous equations. However, there are many other types of equations than these three. Great progress has been made in the engineering and scientific disciplines regarding the use of iterative methods for linear systems. In engineering it is important that we can solve any equation; iterative methods help us do that.
