ABSTRACT

An Internet search reveals countless organizations such as Hands to Hearts International, which educates caregivers, provides nutritional support, and brings medical care around the world. Child Rights International Network works to ensure that legal standards support the rights promised to children by the United Nations; domestically, many faith-based organizations offer aid to the homeless and hungry; and Big Brother/Big Sister steps in when family adults are missing to offer role models to young children. For many of the students the impact is similarly immense. New works provide a sense of ownership, responsibility, and, eventually, enormous accomplishment. At the same time, the organization is able to use its platform to promote new pieces, composers, and the concept of commissioning. Serious new works are added to the repertoire for children’s chorus. Beyond new music, emphasizing high-quality and varied repertoire is a central mission of the organization.
