ABSTRACT
This chapter considers how teachers and students actively worked within given sets of sociocultural contexts to negotiate curricular understandings. It provides a window into the complex, nuanced relationship between formal curriculum, teaching, and students as it is enacted on a daily basis in classrooms. The Technology Center for Educational Research is designed to provide students, teachers, and researchers with the latest technologies available with enough computers for up to 25 students to have their own designated laptop or desktop. Teachers are key conduits for the knowledge students receive in classrooms. The construction of knowledge applied not only to the songs that students created using the mini-studio but also to all of the other activities Mrs. Raymond utilized while at the Technology Center for Educational Research (TCER). The chapter explains how local actors render educational contexts sensible.
