I am very grateful to Jon Down for his authorship of the previous chapter, which I was simply inequipped to write, lacking the requisite knowledge and breadth of experience. And he has provided a wealth of authoritative information and advice about what has become the most exciting, wide-ranging and enabling tool of the student’s trade. However, for all its immense potency, the PC is not the only resource you will need or find valuable. There are many other, non-electronic sources you can mine-including some human ones!
