ABSTRACT

The importance of treating space and time in such depth and to such an extent is that all appearances can and must make their entrance in the theater of space and time. Space and time may be initially spoken of as the forms of individuation and pluralization. The capacity for pluralization is the condition for being able to represent the space and time of the person in the street or the physicist in the first place. Time is the transcendental condition for the possibility of the representation of multiple existence in the same space. While space is also required for representing a length of time, it is more fundamentally defined as the transcendental condition for the possibility of the representation of a multiple existence at one and the same time. Metaphysical propositions can be classified under the category of the synthetic a priori in the sense that they are necessarily true, and are not mere conventions.
