ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts of concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book considers how one can be creative in their teaching, find innovative ways of working and be receptive to new ideas. It covers a range of key aspects of teaching English to children aged five to eleven. The book discusses some of the classroom activities and practices with fellow professionals, and adapts them to meet the needs of the children one teach. It explores how one assessment of pupils' progress impacts upon their planning. The book presents portfolios of poetry and children's stories that one can draw upon throughout one career. It looks at examples of varied and interesting non-fiction texts to include in one 'literate' classroom. The modern teacher needs to have a broad perspective and a receptivity to change if he or she is to respond to change effectively.
