ABSTRACT
A portion of a spring hydrograph, which includes a recession period during months of
June and July, is shown in Figure 16.5. Find the volume of water stored in the aquifer portion
drained by the spring at the beginning of this recession period (first week of June) using available
information from the hydrograph. Although the hydrograph shows influence of new precipita-
tion at the end of July-beginning of August (i.e. the recession period has ended), assume that
there was no rainfall in the spring drainage area for 3 months after the beginning of recession,
and then calculate what the spring discharge would be at the end of this 3-month period.
