ABSTRACT
In the investigation into turbulence in wavenumber space, we need to deal with complicated interactions among waves or eddies that are governed by equation (3.120). For abstracting some of their characteristics, we often resort to the approximations whose range of validity is not so evident. In this section we shall refer to some approximate methods that are utilized in the study of statistical turbulence theory.
