ABSTRACT

In Wordsworth's line, 'child is father to the man', the author describes how our 'inner child' is a powerful construct. Art therapists Kaiser and Deaver have reviewed the use of the nest as a projective test as a means of assessing the quality of relational attachment in their subjects. The author's goal was in line with their findings, to facilitate attachment by extending frame of reference regarding the context of mandala preferences. The impact of current video games or films can have a deadening effect upon one's inner visions, memories and thoughts, or to the contrary, seeing a film or other media piece may become a profound experience, opening immense horizons during one's formative years. The author have used the film's segments as a stimulus in many experientials, both with clients and university students, with creative responses never falling short of being intense.
