ABSTRACT

Membranes are effective tools for a wide range of advanced separations such as processing liquids, vapors, and gases. The majority of the applications make use of polymeric membranes, as they offer the potential of tailoring the separation for specic applications by adjusting the synthesis procedure. This often allows for inexpensive separations with a remarkably high performance. Nevertheless, polymeric membranes have intrinsic disadvantages, such as poor chemical and physical resilience, as well, which limit their potential.
