ABSTRACT

Green University is a midsize public institution of around 9,000 students. Athletic events bring unity and a sense of pride to the entire campus. Even though most intercollegiate athletic teams at Green are Division II level, intercollegiate competition is highly valued at Green by students, faculty, and staff. The Academic Services Department attempts to support the academic success of students. This department is where tutoring services, academic skills workshops, first-year transition courses, and a number of other services are housed. All first-year students start out in the exploratory/undecided program because they are unable to officially declare a major until they complete two semesters of undergraduate work. Academic advisors work closely with students to help them fulfill liberal studies requirements and choose a major based on their interests, goals, and abilities. Advisors meet with students to discuss their degree audits and the liberal studies guide, their academic progress, selection of courses for the following semester, and areas of academic interests.
