ABSTRACT
The nature of hypnosis is a problem that ultimately must be resolved by observational means. It raises issues both about theory and methodology, since there exists crucial differences in viewpoint concerning both what hypnosis is, and the appropriate methodological strategies for testing hypotheses about it.
