ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book finds some answers to questions on relationships where knowledge is the central aspect for firms to develop competitiveness. It shows that Brazil was a world leader in white meat production and exports and this was confirmed by the numbers. The book also shows how do local firms compete using knowledge in domestic and international markets in an increasingly globalized world. It analyzes the structure and content of knowledge transfers necessary to operate high-tech capital equipment and discusses the competitiveness in the global chicken market. The book assesses how the firms were able to take advantage of cost-effectiveness and market power to operate successfully in the marketplace. It discusses vertical integration and deals with whether a theoretical optimal or best practice solution was most useful for comparisons among the researched firms.
