ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book summarizes Vicki's story and the research within which it was situated. It acts as an introduction to the author's own action research which gave rise to Vicki’s story. The book reconstructs the images of Vicki from the author's own perceptions and from interviews with others who knew Vicki on the Advanced Diploma course. It shows evidence of some of the changes which Vicki experienced as a result of her research and advanced studies. The book looks at the first piece of research which grew from Vicki’s felt need to develop herself as humanities coordinator, ‘to work on (her) own knowledge within the subject’. It considers Vicki’s second research project which was classroom, rather than institutionally, based and deals with Vicki’s third, and longest, research study.
