ABSTRACT

Holy Cathedral College is a small, private, Catholic institution located on the outskirts of a medium-size metropolitan city. Holy Cathedral boasts a beautiful, quiet campus for LGBT students even though it is only 20 minutes from the city. Stepping onto the campus grounds feels like stepping into a retreat. The college opened in 1858 as a seminary for young Catholic men focused on teacher training and religious studies. Holy Cathedral still holds tight to its Catholic roots, but has transitioned into a liberal arts institution for men and women with three academic subdivisions - the School of Business, Arts and Humanities and the School of Science and Environmental Studies. The Holy Cathedral community is welcoming its largest first-year class this fall. The students in the first-year class are primarily Caucasian, middle-class, traditional-aged, and from the surrounding area and states - similar to the makeup of the rest of Holy Cathedral's student body.
