ABSTRACT

Favretto et al [1] applied gas-liquid chromatography to an evaluation of the polydispersity of polyoxthylene non-ionic surfactants. The water sample was extracted with 1,2-dichloroethane and the combined organic layers extracted with 0.10M sulphuric acid and then with 1.10M sodium hydroxide solution. The purified extract was concentrated under vacuum transferred into a glass mini-vial evaporated to 1.10mL by means of a stream of nitrogen. An aliquot of this solution was injected into the gas chromatographic column.
