ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION Cloud-based Big Data analytics is driving the rapid advancement of cloud computing services [1]. With the rapid growth in cloud computing, it provides reasonable cost and better performance for many Big Data systems. Big Data in clouds also adds more stress to CPU in servers, memory in storage, and bandwidth in network. As one of the key technologies for cloud computing, virtualization brings great benets to modern data centers including cost savings, ecient resource management, and scalability. e virtual machine placement problem (VMPP) is important to data centers, and has attracted much attention in recent years. Virtual machine (VM) placement is the process of choosing the most suitable conguration between the mapping of VMs and servers. e desired conguration may be dierent, depending on the goals intended to be achieved.
