ABSTRACT
After all is said and done, a laser is just a glorižed lightbulb-a device that emits light. It is, by itself, not very useful for anything until one adds the other ancillary equipment that makes the laser into a machine tool. Laser micromachining is still machining, but instead of using a drill bit, router bit, or saw blade, light is used. This section discusses the other components needed to complete a laser micromachining workstation.
