ABSTRACT

The tangent builds on the analysis of herses and low pieces and addresses the excessive use of nudity in these two performances. Traditionally nudity is used to present the body in its natural state. But how does nudity change if the “natural state” of the body is challenge? Following Agamben’s proposition that nudity only emerges in the process of (un)dressing, this short tangent argues that nudity is an effect of the processual body, itself a performative event emerging in the movement of touch.
