ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on non-English models in foreign culture teaching to see how these models are developed to solve the culture teaching issues of specific contexts. It is important to listen to scholars from non-English-speaking countries who have added their insights into the way of teaching culture to non-English-speaking learners as a part of foreign-language education. Teaching culture should be aimed at empowering individuals as peacemakers to create harmony in a society or a region, to create and maintain competent interpersonal relationships in an intercultural world. The phenomenon of globalisation has challenged the concept of culture(s), which used to be related to geographical and quite often national features. Globalisation is a multi-facet process, which refers to "the intensification of social, political, economic, and cultural ties across borders". Geographically, Denmark is a medium-sized country in Europe, which often, in its policies, aims to seek peaceful solutions to political conflicts.
