Team building is the most popular and widely used intervention for organizational development. A review of the literature, however, reveals that there are no consistent definitions of what an effective team is or what the processes of building teams are. There are a number of instruments designed to analyze the status of team interaction, but most of these have been developed by consultants and are not available without cost and Team Interaction Profile. Francis and Young have not promoted the Team-Review Questionnaire as an experimental tool, and they offer no statistical analysis of its reliability. Gribas, however, calculated internal reliability scores in his study of participants in community theaters. No statistical data are available to support the construct validity of this instrument, yet there is some evidence of face validity. Downs, for example, has used this instrument with managers from a number of organizations, and their evaluations of it have generally been positive.
