ABSTRACT

A growing trend in industry is more and longer meetings. As firms compete aggressively for markets and scarce resources, they place a premium on organizational adaptation and on obtaining fast, accurate information. Because modem organizations require more project teams and task forces to handle the constant change, meetings are necessary to coordinate and control organizational tasks. Once the objective and problem are stated, the attendees also need to know what input is required of them. If they do not understand or have no indication of any required pre-meeting preparation, they will probably not contribute much and the meeting will be less productive. The decision section is critical because it identifies what decisions were reached and by whom, providing additional detail only when necessary. Readers need to retrieve this information quickly because meeting decisions often result in additional work or responsibility.
