This chapter reviews the multiple ways technology might be incorporated into the design, scoring, implementation, and evaluation of simulations. It focuses on the range of technological sophistication available to simulation developers and the decision of what form and level of technology to incorporate. Regardless of whether the incorporation of technology is administrative, a substantive aspect of the simulation context, or psychometric in nature, it is critical that a number of considerations be made early in the process. Simulation designers should consider all possible delivery methods alongside the purpose of the simulation. The use of technology allows for simulations to be delivered remotely, such that assessees, assessors, role players, and other staff need not all be at the same place at the same time. The chapter also focuses on cautions about the use of more sophisticated forms of technology and professional guidelines and standards relevant to the use of technology in behavioral assessment/simulations.
