ABSTRACT

This chapter relates that understanding of continuous and purposeful creation to the present condition of the United Nations Organization and the need for its structural change. Teilhard’s creation story is told in terms of a cosmic scattering of particles emerging from outside space and time, infused with an energy which attracted them to one another. Matter and Spirit developed together in ever-more complex and more highly conscious forms, from particles to atoms to molecules, to crystals and cells, to organs and organisms, and up the biological ladder to human life on earth. The United Nations must be seen by people everywhere as the organizational focus of supranational labours in the common interest. This will require a major awakening of consciousness in which formal and informal institutions of learning and religion must play their part.
