ABSTRACT
Three attributes of diffraction grating quality generally determine their spectrometric usefulness. Therefore, measuring them with sufficient accuracy becomes an important concern, but one that varies from simple to complex. In some instances there are difficulties with establishing an adequate independent definition. The relative importance of the criteria depends on the application. In critical situations all three must be respected, while in other instances one of them may dominate.
