ABSTRACT
William Bond (‘Henry Stanhope’), extract from The Progress of Dulness. By an Eminent Hand. Which will Serve for an Explanation of the Dunciad (1728), pp. 5–7. This pamphlet, advertised on 11 June 1728, was a Curll publication occasioned by The Dunciad. In the same volume appeared Dennis's attacks upon Windsor Forest and The Temple of Fame. All three pieces had been written much earlier, and The Progress of Dulness bears the date 6 June 1720.
