ABSTRACT
Most definitions of terrorism state in one way or another that terrorism is a means to a set of political ends. The means concern visiting destruction on representatives or institutions of a state, on infrastructure, or on random citizens. Blackmail, kidnapping, hijacking and fundraising through legal or illegal means are also common components of terrorism. Directly or indirectly, all of these create insecurity, manipulating the opponent’s political actions.
