ABSTRACT

Behavior analysts are busy people who are generally in great demand by consumers, administrators, teachers, parents, treatment coordinators, and others looking to improve the life of their clients. Learning to plan professional behavior analyst' day and manage their time is an essential skill for the effective behavioral consultant, and there are many, many distractions that will be competing for their attention. “Most behavior analysts, by their very nature of being positively reinforcing people, will be sought out as friends, advisors, and confidants.” Although this is important, and certainly gratifying, it can take up valuable time that professional behavior analyst should spend getting their own work done. The Premack Principle basically states that more probable behaviors will reinforce less probable behaviors. Because most jobs in behavior analysis will involve many, many small tasks that will vary during each week, time management is a skill that can make or break the consulting behavior analyst.
