ABSTRACT

Managers are often overwhelmed by official work and find it difficult to pursue something they consider important or interesting. Hospital and healthcare managers are no different. An important function of health and hospital managers is to make supervisory rounds of various departments of the hospital or program areas. "Prioritization" is the essence of time management. Prioritization is required in all aspects of life: professional work, family life, and personal interests. And it has to be done at every stage. Health and hospital managers spend most of their official time working on the computer, attending meetings, preparing documents, making supervisory rounds of departments or program areas, and meeting with visitors. This chapter discusses how we can improve our efficiency in some of these functions. Many managers receive a large number of emails every day and replying to them is time consuming. Sometimes they spend the whole day at it. Meetings are a big time-waster in many organizations.
