ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the mobilities paradigm and its relevance to outdoor studies. It then introduces praxis as an approach to operationalising outdoors research within the mobilities paradigm. Finally, the commonplace journey methodology is explained to show one possible way of integrating mobilities and praxis into outdoor studies field research. The overall intent, however, is not to provide a recipe, but to introduce the concepts and process so they can be adapted to specific contexts and research questions.
