ABSTRACT

Much of the early work and background concerning interactive music is documented in Approaches to Communication through Music (Corke, 2002). To reiterate: interactive music is an approach used in education and therapy; it stands alone in terms of motivating and gaining participation from some of our most difficult-to-reach children. Interactive music has a kind of enchantment because it is underpinned by sounds and music; it has an interactive quality that is playful and child-focused and the mood created through multisensory props and novel equipment holds the possibility of engaging and delighting children on many levels.
