Chapter 1 introduces a theoretically and empirically grounded model of techniques and technologies for technical communication program administration as it builds a vocabulary of the model’s key terms. The notion of “disruption” is examined for its usefulness in the service of program work, especially as it intersects with notions of “sustainability,” “resilience,” and “innovation.” The chapter contributes a common language for sustainable programmatic work rooted in social responsibility.
