ABSTRACT

The essence of high synergy is that the goals of the individual are in harmony with the needs of the system as a whole. As a result, there is minimal conflict between the elements of the system, and between these elements and the system as a whole. Evidence for decreased conflict in human societies has been found in studies of some tribal groups that have a naturally high level of synergy. A high-synergy society would come about through a widespread shift from a derived sense of self to the universal Self. Many of the long term goals in a high-synergy society may well be the same as those of contemporary society, for example improved health, better nutrition, and more efficient use of energy and mineral resources. The difference is that from an enlightened state of consciousness such goals would not just be intellectually understood as desirable: they would be positively desired.
