The final chapter addresses how we might train clinicians to help people face challenging aspects of their lives. It begins with a personal appraisal of my own training and early influences. In what ways was I well- and ill-prepared to help others cope with fundamental challenges? What place does theory have in the education of an analytically oriented clinician? What can sufficiently inspire those who make practice their life’s work?
