Transformation through music: The impact of classical music on the lives of township children

I first visited Soweto in April 1992, a month after a group of friends and I had organised a fundraising event involving large numbers of professional musician colleagues and friends who performed – or ‘busked’ – in some of the UK’s mainline British railway stations to help a group of struggling township musicians.
